Venice Golf and Country Club
Country club members celebrate the good life in an elegant clubhouse which was renovated in 2003. Daily specialties, prepared by a professional culinary staff, are served in a spacious main dining room with fabulous views of the pristine natural surroundings.
Diner offerings at the clubhouse include heart-healthy casual meals, five-course formal gourmet dinner, and enticing deli selections.
Whatever extra poundage gained can be shed in the club’s 2,500-square-foot fitness center which opened in 2004 and equipped with the latest workout equipment. Personal training and special classes on yoga, tai chi, and water aerobics are available under a fitness director. Located adjacent to the clubhouse, the fitness facilities also include a large pool with two lap lanes, a kids’ pool, jacuzzi, and changing facilities.
Additionally, four well-maintained Har-Tru tennis courts are nearby the fitness center, two of which have lights for night play. A tennis director coordinates training and member participation in friendly competitions and tournaments. An air-conditioned tennis lounge is also provided, a great advantage for the club’s tennis association.
Venice Golf and Country Club Golf Course
Golfers, as to be expected, find most joy from the Venice country club’s world-class golf links that that meander across spellbinding nature preserves and placid lakes. This 18-hole, par 72 layout was designed by Ted McAnlis, a famous international course architect.
The course, which opened in 1990, measures 6,790 yards from the farthest tees. Although it underwent a renovation in 2005, the layout’s original McAnlis design features were mostly retained. The makeover included resurfacing of the greens with Tif Eagle Bermuda, acknowledged as the best for Florida courses. A new irrigation system was also installed and the wetland preserves boosted by additional plants native to the area; non-native flora was removed. As a result of these efforts, the Sarasota County presented to the club the Resource Conservation Award, and Audubon International eventually re-certified the course as a Cooperative Sanctuary in January 2007.
An equity membership is needed to enjoy all the amenities at the Venice Golf and Country Club. This club exclusively operates for the benefit of its members and is independent from the golf community’s homeowners association.
Venice Golf and Country Club Real Estate
The country club’s residential real estate community is a gated enclave consisting of 587 single family homes. All the interests of the homeowners are represented by the Master Association governed by its board of directors.
