Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club, Sarasota Florida
Heritage Oaks is a bundled country club community with a single 18 hole golf course, 4 tennis courts and 6 swimming pools scattered throughout the community. As a bundled community, membership to the Heritage Oaks Country Club is mandatory for all 850 owner residents. If you like maintenance free living in gated community, then you will like Heritage Oaks. Primarily this development is a villa and condo community, although there are a few single family homes available.
The streets of the community are lined with almond colored duplexes referred to as “villas” in Florida. These residences have terracotta tiled roofs and feature a Mediterranean design. Many are 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a small den and private swimming pool. They are priced in the low 200s to low 300s. There are also 28 condo buildings in the community, some with detached garages. The condo units are long and spacious and are value priced in the high 100s and low 200s. The single-family home prices average just over $500,000.
The Heritage Oaks Country Club membership dues run about $8,000 a year, the homeowners’ fees run about $650 to $750 a quarter, add to that your taxes and insurance and you are looking at about $1,300 a month in fees on top of your mortgage payment to live here, have full access to the amenities offered at the clubhouse and play the community’s 18 hole golf course. When compared to other bundled communities in the Sarasota area, Heritage Oaks fees are quite high, especially if you do not play golf.
The club house has a small “grill style” lounge/restaurant and also a central dinning facility and ballroom that could seat 300 people comfortably. Perfect to reserve for weddings and special events. The Heritage Oaks fitness center has 3 treadmills, 2 recumbent bikes, and 2 elliptical machines. They also hold various fitness classes daily for residents.
Heritage Oaks was voted the “Best resident owned golf and country club in Sarasota” by its member-residents, there are 50 acres of wilderness interwoven within the community and the Heritage Oaks sales brochure could not say it any better, Heritage Oaks is one of a kind!
If living in a bundled golf and country club appeals to you, might I suggest you investigate Stonneybrook at Palmer Ranch, the dues are much lower and the location of Stoneybrook is much closer to the fine amenities Sarasota has to offer and tends to have a better resale value as well higher demand for properties. Living at Stoneybrook at Palmer Ranch you will also be only 10 minutes away from Siesta Key Beach, a great place for an afternoon stroll or bask in the sun with a good book!
