Southpointe Shores, West of the Trail, Sarasota
Southpointe Shores is a “West of the Trail” Sarasota waterfront community located west of Tamiami Trail (US-41) that receives little publicity. I consider this location one of Sarasota’s best kept secrets when it comes to a waterfront community. There are 112 homes in Southpointe Shores, may offer amazing views of Little Sarasota Bay and the east side of Siesta Key. Amenities in the community include a waterfront park and a boat ramp.
This development was built up during the 1960’s and 70’s and the architecture of these Florida Ranch style homes is certainly in line with that period. Many of the homes in the community have been upgraded or completely demolished to make way for newer, more opulent designs, especially those along the waterfront.
Home prices in Southpointe shores range from $250,000 for a land locked residences in the neighborhood to more than $3 million for the executive homes located along the waterfront. Sizes range from 1,700 square feet to more than 5,000. The development is bordered by Coral Cove to the north, US-41 to the east, Little Sarasota bay to the west, and the waterfront community of Holiday Harbor to the south.
The location of this community and its proximity to the best shopping venues in Sarasota make this an ideal neighborhood to live in. On the east side of Tamiami Trail you will find the Westfield Sarasota Square Mall, AMC movie theater, Potter Park YMCA and a host of other retail establishments lining Tamiami Trail.
Golf membership opportunities at the nearby courses of TPC Prestancia on Palmer Ranch and The Oaks Club in Osprey are available to Southpointe Shores residents and these courses are located literally just 5-10 minutes away.
