Golden Bay is one of the condominium projects pivotal to the growth of Golden Gate Point Peninsula as a destination for buyers of luxury Sarasota condos for sale. Its construction commenced in 2002 at a time when developers were just warming up on the waterfront value of its location at the 22-acre Golden Gate Peninsula about a mile west of downtown Sarasota.

Following the development of Golden Bay and a few other condos in its locality, the peninsula underwent a major transformation during the first decade of the 2000s. This metamorphosis is best manifested in the peninsula’s enhanced landscaping, featuring native tropical Florida palms, a new brick road and new streetlights. Sidewalks, benches and trash receptacles were also provided on both sides of Golden Gate Point, the lone road corridor around the peninsula. New electric, cable, water and sewer facilities were installed, along with the addition of irrigation water.

This glamorous makeover complements very well with the meticulous development of Golden Bay which was described during its market launch as “Sarasota’s newest crown jewel.” Even to this day, this condominium and its Mediterranean-inspired architecture remains a standout in the peninsula’s neighborhood of prestigious Sarasota condos for sale.

Compared with neighboring condo towers, Golden Bay has lesser density with just 10 units in its mid-rise structure located at the northwestern edge of the peninsula adjacent to Ringling Causeway. The rest of the eight units have floor areas of approximately 2,100 square feet each. There are only two units per floor for near-total privacy and exclusivity. With all these factors that weigh in favor of the Golden Bay condominium, it comes as no surprise that the valuation of the residential properties here have largely remained intact notwithstanding the housing downturn during the Great Recession. Notably, one of the 4,200-square-foot penthouses here acquired in its 2002 introductory price of $1.7 million was sold for $1.85 million in end-2013 when the current housing recovery has yet to gain full traction and many Sarasota condos for sale are priced way below their pre-recession values.

A recent listing on Golden Bay’s standard 2,130-square foot unit at around $1.3 million appears quite attractive for buyers of luxury Sarasota condos for sale.
